We are delighted to let you know that the Future Of Skills event in collaboration with Ibec was held on Wednesday 1st October 2025.

This event focused on the implications of Digitisation and AI for skills and employment in Ireland. Previous tech transformations have seen the world’s leading technology companies choose Ireland as an investment location, development of a growing base of Irish technology companies and the productivity and eCommerce benefits of digitisation contribute to business development generally. However, the next phase of digitisation, including Al, will arguably be even more pervasive and profound. We can expect digital disruption to have very significant workforce implications and for digital skills to be a critical competitive battleground that will influence Ireland’s economic and social future.

With the next phase of digitisation having such major implications for individuals, workforces and countries, the prospects and opportunities for Ireland with a range of experts was discussed.
Keynote Speaker: Professor Andy Neely. Professor of Manufacturing, University of Cambridge, UK. Global expert on manufacturing and services and thought leader on the implications of Al.

Panel Chair: Jim Breslin, Strategy and Innovation Advisor and former Secretary General of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research. Innovation and Science. The Expert Panellists were Hilary O’Meara, Country Managing Director of Accenture in Ireland; Dr Tom McDonnell, Co-Director of the Nevin Economic Research Institute; DC Cahalane, Venture Partner at SW; Professor Veronica Campbell, President, South East Technological University (SETU).
